Cavuto failed to challenge Willey's Morgan-Palladino "fantasy"

On the November 8 edition of Fox News' Your World, host Neil Cavuto did not challenge the assertion by Kathleen Willey, author of Target: Caught in the Crosshairs of Bill and Hillary Clinton (World Ahead Publishing), that right-wing radio host Melanie Morgan "went right up to" private investigator Jack Palladino at a book fair "and said, 'Aren't you embarrassed and ashamed for what you did to Kathleen Willey?' And he looked right at her and said, 'The only thing that I'm ashamed of is that [Sen.] Hillary [Rodham Clinton (D-NY)] didn't pay us in a timely fashion.' " Willey added: "I believe her." But Cavuto did not note that Palladino has reportedly denied Morgan's account, telling the right-wing website WorldNetDaily that "[i]t's total fantasy," "a lie," and "absolute fiction."

Willey is on her Fox News tour, being trotted out on every program as if she has any new revelations on Cavutos than on Hannitys.

Anyone that expects her to be challenged in any meaningful way on this network is living a pipedream.

FOX makes no bones about it, what is truly amazing is that FOX does not hide it, why she appears on the "business" show of FOX is even more amazing.

Posted by tommy in reply to DorisRussell

It is ridiculous, what relevance does her book have on a business show, you are absolutely right Doris.

This probably helps Hillary more than it hurts her, that is the irony that Fox misses.......they would go berserk if they thought that was the case.

Posted by DorisRussell in reply to tommy

Which is why FOX can not be taken seriously.

"I've read that Hillary has a lot of problems about paying people to whom she owes money, including the ghostwriter for her book."This seems to be borne out by other incidents as well. Especailly, the recent one in which Hillary refused to tip the waitress and her campaign then stopped by 2 days later to tip after the story became known in the national media.

Since that's just an outright lie, I guess we can discount anything else you might have to offer on the subject. Thanks for taking yourself out of the credibility sweepstakes so early in the game.

As the waitress from Iowa said "you guys are nuts!". You would find a pimple on Hillary's ass and she say owes money, she stole money she hiding money or she eats money. Can't take your comment seriously cause ANYTHING that Hillary does you along with some of your delusional friends find fault. Get a new gig.

SAVE DEMOCRACY, VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT!!

- tommy / Friday November 9, 2007 12:28:35 PM EST

I wonder Tommy, are you so young that you can't remember when news programming had to meet a standard of public service to maintain their license??

I wonder how you think that because Fox is decidedly slanted toward delivering a message without caring about truth, civility, or legality, not to mention the question of morality of a message that feels empowered to lie to Americans about one party's leaders, and issues opposed to another while advertising being "Fair and Balanced??"

What part of democracy is this behavior? Is it a question of free enterprise, and the government should let whomever should have the most money control the airways??

Am I to understand that this is the America you would hope for your prodigy??

If you have the money, and care not whom you harm, you too should be a media mogul in America?

Americans have nothing to say about it, the FCC is a communist device, the Fairness Doctrine is the left silencing the right??

What are they so afraid of that their opponents should have a voice. Is the truth of the other sides voice so frightening to you?

Happy Thoughts;

Dan Grady

I don't believe Fox is silencing anyone, or any other media outlet.  So in case you aren't aware, there are numerous other avenues of media information for you and anyone who chooses to explore out there in this vast superinformation highway available at your fingertips.

I will make sure my prodigy is fully aware of that as well........now go and spread happy thoughts.

SAVE DEMOCRACY, VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT!!

- tommy / Friday November 9, 2007 01:29:18 PM EST

Do you not believe that the public airways should be a public trust afforded those whom would seek out only the truth, that the news from the public airways should be held as a public trust in a democracy??

Do you believe that a democracy may thrive, and strive to be a more a perfect union while selling it's media to the wealthiest among us?

Do you believe that a democracy would survive if we allow media moguls to consume the print, cable, satelite, and public airways to the exclusion of all others?

Media conglomerates that have an agenda that has nothing to do with promoting freedom, civil liberties, or democratic institutions that promote a more perfect union; but only to promote their unfettered pursuit of profit!!

Clear enough?

When you make the point that Fox is slanted and so what if they lied on the public airways to promote the interests of a specific party; you are yourself lending a hand to the erosion of democracy in America.

Making propaganda alright in America is the poisoned fruit in our garden of eden.

Dan

What is the point of your question ?

I think he has a crush on me. ;)

Why are they putting this poor women in TV?  She needs medication.  Stop embarrassing her.

Posted by wzwriter in reply to NiceguyEddie

They should book her on "The View" and let Whoopi Goldberg grill her.

Talk about "Must See TV"......

Posted by DorisRussell

WILLEY: She's -- she's behind the secret police. She's the one who sets up the war room when he goes out and he does what he does and he zeroes in on women. I talk about it in my book in more detail, about the private detectives, the private investigators that she hires, that she sees to go out and intimidate women.

I have not laughed this hard in weeks. Does she realize what has happened in America and how we torture people since 9/11? This women is Nuts.

Speaking of Morgan--this is off-topic--but I tuned in to her radio program this morning in time to hear her claim that when she went to Iraq in '95 she was shown the weapons of mass destruction that Bush was looking for. She was mock-flabbergasted that Bush wasn't crowing about the WMD that "everybody knows" she found. She lies like most people breathe.

Posted by SueEld in reply to clams casino

That moron went to Iraq in 95 and Saddam let her stroll around?

Posted by clams casino in reply to SueEld

Sorry, I meant 2005.

Posted by SueEld in reply to clams casino

Oh ok, i just could not imagine that moron 12 years ago strolling around Iraq unguarded.

Posted by wzwriter in reply to clams casino

Since Saddam Hussein was captured Hussein on December 13, 2003, Melanie Moron's timeline makes no sense...

Posted by SueEld in reply to wzwriter

That is becuase Melanie Morgan is an idiot

Posted by DEMS_SOL

CAVUTO: Yeah, I read that in great detail, and I was wondering, it almost seems too incredible to be true. And I mean this with the greatest respect, Kathleen. Is it just paranoia run amok? In other words, on your part, that maybe it's too incredible to believe.

Cavuto is clearly exposing that this woman is wacko and is questioning her sanity and credibility.  Yet - Media Matters finds this "conservative misinformation? Hardly! Media Matters has simply found a launch pad to present another attempt to discredit Willey's book - and another example of it's political activism. Media watchdog - no, Hillary for President website- obviously.

Posted by DorisRussell in reply to DEMS_SOL

Having her on is the problem, do you not see that? Giving her a forum to spew hate is the problem.

Posted by DEMS_SOL in reply to DorisRussell

Unfortunately in this day and age of 24 hour news these shows have to come up wuth something to fill the air time.  Willey's book is news so she gets on.  Her life is a sad story so there is human interest.   Would I put her on - no - but Cavuto at least did portray her as the loon she apparently has become. That's why this doesn't fly as "conservative misinformation.

Posted by wzwriter in reply to DEMS_SOL

WC4ME - deranged, misinformed person - obviously.

Posted by DEMS_SOL in reply to wzwriter

wzwriter - too simple minded to look beyond the obvious.  Obviously.

Palladino looked up and "kind of gave me a lazy smile, and his wife, who is British, shot her husband a look

Why did she interject that the wife is British? It seems to have no relevance at all. Just curious.

Posted by Pithaughn

I look forward to the book, or expose that will shoot down 90% of her book. Someone besides Al will have to get busy with that as he is busy preparing to be a senator.

Posted by pearlene_scott1602

The question should be asked of Fox not quite News, "Aren't you embarrassed and ashamed to have an obviously mentally unstable woman on television"? The same question should be asked of her publishers. The lengths some will go in their hatred of the Clinton's appears endless. This will be a very long election cycle if Hillary get the nomination.

Posted by foghornleghorn

Melanie Morgan could be the most unpatriotic American alive today.  But I must admit whenever I catch her on TV, I must watch - kinda like a train wreck.

Peas in a pod...

Yesterday, I watched the entire, appalling segment on the FOX NEWS premiere "business" show and, besides the idiocies spewed by Willey, I was struck by Cavuto's tone as he coached, er... ah, interviewed her.  His voice was so close to pillow talk that I had to pound on VOL+ just to catch what he was saying.

As for Melanie Morgan being  "...either high on something... or she is simply lying", I suggest a third, more likely possibility.

Both.

Oh, this is gonna give sue a conniption fit! Lord, forgive me for my evil ways...

Posted by artbee20007914

This woman is not credible, but she is very nutty. We all know Fox has an anti-Clinton agenda, but this woman even makes Fox look silly, and thats hard to do.

Posted by pete592

Another nugget found in the WND article:

"It's total fantasy,"  [Palladino] told WND. "No, that's too kind; it's a lie."Morgan, a WND columnist, said she was not surprised by Palladino's response and stands by her story "100 percent.""He has been well known for lying and protecting his clients for as many years as he's been a private detective," Morgan told WND. "I have no reason to make it up, no motivation to exaggerate."

Yeah....NO REASON OR MOTIVATION WHATSOEVER.  Given her long history of 'honesty' and 'insightful political discourse', I can't imagine Morgan ever making something up to forward an agenda.

The funny thing is that the Neanderthal FOX viewers are sitting there, lapping this up and pounding their fists on the table in fabricated outrage. Then they turn around and poo-poo anyone who suggests that Dick Cheney or George Bush are anything but Choir Boys. Amazing.

Posted by draftedin68 in reply to nerzog

Amazing indeed!

The behavior of the fist-banging FOX NEWS viewers is, unfortunately, genetically-triggered (really!) and one of the down sides of evolution.

The lineage of these folks can be traced back to one of the beings depicted at the beginning of 2001 - A Space Odyssey, but NOT the one that flung the jawbone - he figured things out for himself and was a forebearer of millions of progressives.

Don't you all really think that Fox is irelevant anymore?  Hannity, OReily & the rest are not looked at really serious other than their cult followers.  Their msg really does not seem to go beyond the diehard fans of theirs and they are getting more rediculous all the time.  No credibility.

Posted by clams casino in reply to Bacchus1

Yeahm but that cult is tens of millions of people strong.
