I know I'm sick, but I was hanging around home this afternoon and flipped by Fox periodically to check out their Sunday circus. It's just amazing to see Karl Rove on there, getting loads of "Welcome to the Fox Team!" shout-outs. Fox seems to be ditching even the flimsy appearance  of being anything but a GOP outlet they used to try.

I even checked out a bit of Hannity's America. He's also completely ignoring the McCain/Hagee topic while spending a good chunk of his show painting Barack Obama as a radical separatist.

It's a little unnerving to think there are people watching this station for anything but laughs.

Indeed, the comforting thought is that while that approximately 30% of the Republican base remain hard core right wingers the rest of the Republican Party is in a state of flux. As an example, a right wing relative of mine commented a couple of months ago about Ron Paul's staunch anti-war position, something to the effect of "Where did thay dig up this guy?" I was compelled to point out to her that at the time a majority of Americans believed that the Iraq war was a mistake and wanted us out of Iraq...and therefore her pro-war stance was what was actually out of the mainstream, and not Ron Paul's position. Since then, however, I understand that anti-war sentiment may be softening. Nevertheless, it's true what you say that right wingers are experiencing shock that their views are not the dominant ones anymore. My theory is that many of these right wing people live in homogenized communities and the information they receive is simply echo chamber stuff.

Mr. Rove will be appearing at the Univ. of Pittsburgh this evening. The head of the Republan party around here was all over the airwaves claiming that his talk/question answer session is sold-out as his events usually are.. It sure is, the students ate up all 500 hundred tickets. Betcha Obama can't do that ;).
