Fox News' Special Report touted McCain accomplishment in not losing his temper at Florida event

Summary: On Special Report, Brit Hume aired a report by Carl Cameron about Sen. John McCain keeping his temper in check when the microphone did not work during a donor's conference in Florida and later when he was hit on the head by a TV camera. At the end of the report, Cameron stated: "McCain makes no bones about blowing his stack occasionally and having a temper. A campaign has the capacity to test the temperament and character of a candidate. If today was a pop quiz, you got to say McCain passed." Hume replied: "Yeah, with flying colors I'd say, under the circumstances."

If that's not shilling for the McCain campaign, I don't know what is.

I guess in their zeal to say something constructive about John McCain, this was the best they could do...

The standards for what's required to run this country are at their lowest.

When I heard that McCain could control his temper under conditions that no one else waould lose it, I decided right then and there this is a man I want to be my President. It was almost enough that his name is John but his ability to keep himself from slapping somebody for a microphone malfunction, well, that just sealed my vote.

McCain 2008 "No We Won't"

George W. Bush set the bar artificially low.  Barack Obama keeps looking better and better to me....

I can see the FOX headline now:

"Good News! President McCain didn't blow up the world today."

Posted by Limit Corp. Ownership in reply to nerzog

The AP is now reporting:  "McCain's patience was tested again later in the day...

when a far-right, corporate evangelical kicked him in the butt.  McCain turned and graciously thanked him for his exuberance, and gave the man a flag lapel pin."

Wouldn't this be a sign that Faux News is critical of McCain... thinking that he'll blow up at any time, for any menial reason?

Down with Faux News' anti-Republican bias!!!

Posted by Col. Harlan Sanders in reply to Con Man

I think it's a sign that should McCain be our next president (Don't even like typing that), he will be held to the same Special Olympics type standards that Bush has been coddled with for the past 2 terms.

the Bush Continuum. And all of the Bush followers are loking out for teir own job continuum. Ad this time, a vice president is going to be a possible active successor.. And i don't even want to imagine a Supreme Court after eight more years of GOP White House presence.

My posts are usually caustic and not part of the discussion but on this subject, it is the same.

Let me get this straight, Sen. McBush did not get angry because his mike didn't work. Golly gee, what restraint especially since some damn Union worker was probably operating the house....... Oh no, it was a vast left-wing conspiracy to test old McBush. Where's Truthy when you need him. Damn lower level workers trying to bring down America. Thank God Sen. McBush controlled himself. By the way, how did he appear without his babe?

P.S. Thanks for the almost Bush bush in the Coulter post.

Posted by wolf kotenberg in reply to princeofwheels

our post and mention the modifier " McBush " sent chills down my spine and invoked images of Jeb Bush being appointed his vice president. That can give me a hart attack.

"our post ' should read " your post ". fat fingers.

McCain's patience and temper were tested for 20 awkward, halting minutes.

Works for me. He'll be ready for that 3am phone call.

;-)

Jeter, I think that's just describing McCain when he's up at 3am to take a whiz. Does he have a phone in there? ;0)

Posted by wzwriter in reply to jeter2

Works for me. He'll be ready for that 3am phone call.

Face it - the man is 72 years old.  He'd be up at 3am anyway, en route to or from the bathroom....

a few months ago, before the end of last year, president Bush appeared to have annointed Giulliani as his successor and FOX news couldn't comtain itself lavishing praises on the G man and his Hampton squeeze. I'd love to be a fly on the wall inside the White House right now.

Great. Just what we need, a buffalo fart with anger management issues given access to the nuke button.

"Maverick McCain was tested yet further when the speech he was reading from gave him a rather vicious paper cut. However, he showed incredible calm under pressure and kept reading from his speech. Now if that isn't Presidential material, I don't know what is. Hume?"

Ug, I meant..."Brit?"

Brit Hume- GOP Hack

Posted by dazedandconfused26

I wish Hume's mic didn't work.

Wouldn't mind if he got hit in the head with a camera either. How can this be a "news" station?

If you got enough money, you can buy anything.

Fox could probably take a lesson from the British...

Posted by princeofwheels

Just read on Comcast that Senator HotHead McBush sort of lost his temper when asked by a woman reporter, thought I'd throw that in, about asking Sen. Kerry to be his Veep and a conversation  from 2004.                                                               Brit, Cammy, did those flying colors, whatever the hell that means, just get lowered or did he fail the pop quiz? Guess his character and temperament(?) are back in play.

Posted by oscar the grouch in reply to princeofwheels

Yup, sounds like he responded much like HRC did to Kroft last week, just a little more forcefully (as many here thought she should have done). In this instance, having read a transcript of the exchange, I offer my kudos to JSM. "Way to go, Johnny Boy!"

Talk about scary a cantankerous old coot with anger management problems answering the red phone at 3:00 A.M.

Posted by foghornleghorn in reply to Lynn

I think the only calls Bush ever gets on the "red" phone are from Tony Blair and Prince Bandar.

I saw that on Fox too.

McCain c Hume and his hack are trying to dispel doubt's that McCain is not McCrazy.

McCain came up from behind the guy,

McCain was not looking where he was going... how's that camera guy supposed to see behind his back and look through the view-finder?

That lady working for McCain job was to make sure His path was clear.

McCain and his aide should have apologiged, instead I saw McCain and his aide bristeling with royal indignaiton.

Posted by dazedandconfused26

The "red phone," I hate those adds. It's like an election for the next Batman.

The combination of arrogance and anger is...

VERY SCARY.

McBush.  That's the 1st time I've heard that.  Very good.  McBush.  McBush.  McBush.  McLame.  McBush.  McBush.  Just wanted to firmly embed it.

President McCain passed a milestone today, his first one hundred days without blowing his top.

Posted by snoopy

OT, but I love the fact that the "go" button covers Hume's mouth. If only that were real...

Posted by sportsguydave in reply to snoopy

Hey Snoop:

It's even better when it covers Coultergeist's mouth ... :)

Brit Hume+False News Channel= die hard Republican mouthpiece. "fair and ballanced", what a joke.

This is the second article I've seen today that praises St. McCain because golly gee, who would've thunk it, although he does have a very short fuse don't worry, he spends somewhat less than 50% of his time blowing his cork.  Wow, that sure proves he has the temperment to be President.

Here is the other MSM "news" story: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aRyV2cUi9msE

Posted by factsrstubborn

One more point:  The article linked above quotes McCain as saying "every time I've lost my temper I've regretted it."   I don't know about you, but I am troubled that despite this admirable self-awareness he lacks the ability to stop himself from flying into a destructive rage.  This is a man who admits he can't stop himself from doing something he POSITIVELY KNOWS he will regret.  If everyone agrees "Road Rage" by an average citizen is bad... "PRESIDENT-RAGE" is far worse!  McCain is UNFIT FOR COMMAND, and the MSM gives him an absolutely free pass on this!

George Bush and John McCain walk into a bar.

They would have easily walked under the bar if it hadn't been lowered so much for the two of them.

Must have been a slow news day.

Posted by ecmarauder

your liberal posts regarding this news item are so biased they are comical. I saw and heard the exchange between McCain and the ny times reporter and McCain responded appropriately. The reporter was baiting him and when he did not not take the hook she introduced the "anger" angle by suggesting that he was angry. She got the sound bite she wanted, and now you clowns are doing what you do best-engaging in your daily bouts of MM(Mental Masturbation).Don't waste your time responding to me, I'll be gone from this topic as soon as I post this, I just drop in here for a little comic relief, kinda like watching the monkeys at the zoo, or Olberman. Don't you people have a life? It's always the same fools posting.

Carl Cameron is really looking tired and worn out. Could it be he's suffering from the fact that his talents are knowlingly being turned to corruption, yellow journalism and propaganda?

I wonder how he felt when they pulled his 4 part series about Israel's involvement in 9-11 off of the Fox website. Down the memory hole, eh Carl?
