Contradicting Fox's reporting, Cavuto suggested the bailout bill would not have failed "if Nancy Pelosi had just shut up earlier"

Summary: Fox News' Neil Cavuto contradicted reporting by Fox News by suggesting that the financial bailout bill would not have failed if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "had just shut up earlier and not characterized it one way or the other" in a speech she gave before the vote. However, Fox News producer Chad Pergram reported before Pelosi spoke that Republicans "may only have 40 to 60 of their members" supporting the bill, a number that Pergram said "leaves us very short there." Additionally, several GOP House members have said that Pelosi's speech did not cause Republicans to switch their votes.

Nancy Pelosi was not the problem, the greed on Wall Street is the problem.

So we are supposed to believe that this bailout is so necessary and urgent that it must be passed as soon as possible and each moment without it is crippling our economy and leading us further towards a massive global depression but somehow it isn't important enough to let that evil librul Pelosi get away with saying bad things about the God feerin' reel Mercan Republicans. Right.

I came to post a similar thought but no one could say it better than you did.  Imagine someone who claims to be a patriot dodging the 'yes' vote because some other Representative made some statement that just did not sit well with that Rep.  That admission is amazing and I shall remember that when I write my kids in some of these guys districts to remind them to hold these goofs accountable for this no vote.  Strange day. when the Democrats delivered more votes for the Bush.  it is like alice inwonderland, eh? bail-out, putting politics aside, and then the Republicans bulldoze their own President.  We have truly arrived in the Republican Alice in wonderland.

off topic, but a small rant.

I switched to Comcast recently and of the three tv sets in my home, I get msnbc only on one (the one I do not get to watch at my liking). I get CNN and FoxNews on the other two.

At 7PM hour EST, I find myself watching FoxNews more at ease than watching the Lou Dobbs guy on CNN. This guy is a a disgrace. I do not know why CNN carries him. He lets his reporters report and personally tells them that he is a great guy.

Is there any audience for him?

CAVUTO, Of all people should understand the power of propaganda, spin, political

b.s.,and a loaded speech. The majority of dems that voted for the bailout, REALLY

do not want it to pass. They are being pressured by powerful people they need. The

speech did exactly what it was intended to do..sink the vote

And Neil Cavuto has a very high position at FOX news doesn't he? Incredible. How unprofessional to use the words "shut up." But I have noticed he likes to talk tough like that, in a borderline sexist way. (Maybe that is done to counter his Pillsbury Doughboy look?) I have always had a very hard time taking him seriously. For one thing, he uses weasel words like "all I am saying ..." For another, he has always struck me as a kid who has put on a suit he found in his daddy's closet and is just playing grown up. I do not think much of his analytical abilities either.
All anyone needs to remember is that CAVATO is employed by FOX NEWS which is nothing more than a propaganda organ for the REPUBLICAN party. Take everything he says with a ton of salt.

Louis Kestenbaum should be in there - there's a man that people are likely to listen to. When Nancy Pelosi chose to speak up is irrelevant here. It's the person speaking, not the timing of the speech that ultimately counts.
